FRONHOLZ
Gewurztraminer 2020
17,50€
Fronholz is translated by the wood of drudgery, it is about the free work that the peasants were obliged to do for their lord. It is a locality which is located in the township of Epfig. It is one of the rare Alsatian hillsides exposed to the south-west which benefits from a bright and windy climate, its subsoil is composed of clay, quartz, silica and loess, with limestone in depth. This soil allows us to obtain full-bodied wines supported by good acidity.
Wine tasting : A gastronomic white wine, generous, elegant, fruity, candied with spicy notes. Beautiful length, frank and powerful.
Gastronomy : as an aperitif, with foie gras, sweet and savory agreements, munster (strong Alsatian cheese), a kougelhof (traditional Alsatian brioche)…

Wine making process
We grow our vines with the greatest respect to obtain the quintessence of our soils, this practice is applied on all our vineyard. We practice Guyot Poussart pruning, manual disbudding, sowing of green manure, we apply herbal teas, decoctions or purins of wild plants. We adapt our interventions to the cycle of the moon.
Vinification
We pay meticulous attention to the vinification which starts with a manual harvest, then a long pressing of whole grapes, a static settling, a slow & regulated fermentation at 18°C, and a long maturation on fine lees.
